Itineray description


Day 1 - Ancient Girona


Arrival to the Girona - Ancient city running and crossing Gavarres forest - Sant Marti Vell (18 km - Elevation Gain 470 m)

First day will start with the discovery of the ancient Girona city, we will run through a maze of narrow streets, churches, and convents.

After surrounding the town running on the top of its medieval wall we will head towards the gavarres forest, a specially created trail will take us through it, all the way to the village of San Marti Vell. A 20 minutes drive will take us back to Girona, and there is a reson for this, we will enjoy a gourmet taste menu in La Curcuma restaurant for dinner.

 


Day 2 - Empordanet


Medieval towns to the 1.000 years old house in the middle of the mountains (28 km - Elevation gain 340m - Elevation loss: 282m)


From the same location were we ended the day before we will cover the rural areas between 7 medieval villages and 2 castles, mainly by flat and not very tecnichal trails.

We will have a very light lunch in Peratallada town in the middle of the day, the second part of the day will consist mainly in running by small trails to get to our final destination, Mas Cals a 1000 years old house were we will be greeting with Cava by Joan our host in this place where we spend the night and enjoy of a typical Catalan farm dinner.

 


Day 3 - Getting to the sea


From the mountains to the sea (23 km - Elevation gain: 520 m - Elevation loss : 687m)


Starting from Mas Cals we will head up to get to Fitor church and from there by small technical trails down  to the Mediterranean.

We won’t be seeing the sea until it is just in front of us, we will spend the rest of the day following the coastal line, a trail will take us by fisherman huts, the Dalí hut, and pleanty of small virgin beaches and cliffs.

We will end the day running trough the Mediterranean village of Calella de Palafrugell, where the hotel Casamar which is also a one michellin started restaurant will be waiting for us.

 


Day 4 - Paella day


Lighthouse, cliffs by the coast to Paella Village (20 km - Elevation gain: 592m - Elevation loss: 707m)  


From Calella we will climb up to the Sant Sebastiá light house with spectacular views of the Mediterranean, from there we will run by a trail next to the coast pasing by some of the most beautiful areas in the whole trip until we got to Tamariu where our famous  diving board is, after a refreshing swim we will head inland until getting to Begur a pictorest town with a castle on it’s top,  and then after crossing several mountains to the medieval village of Pals, where we will enjoy a local Paella.

Our accommodation tonight will be a small castle which was once the residence of the inquisition officer in the area.

 


Day 5 - Getting to Cadaques


Short day - Getting to Cadaques (12 km - Elevation gain: 354m - Elevation lost 371m)


First day in the Cap de Creus, a complete new landscape is waiting.

A short 12km run that will take us through a completely different landscape area getting at the end of the day to Cadaques, a town worth exploring.

Depending on availability consider a massage to ease and soothe the muscles ready for our final two days.

 


Day 6 - The Cap de Creus


Challenging day - Cadaques, Cap de Creus light house - Dali’s pictures landscape area - Wine Taste (26 km- Elevation gain: 1,015m - Elevation loss: 778m)


Starting from Cadaques, which happens to be our prefer village, we will run by the maze of colbet white streets,  passing in front of Dalí house in Port lligat.

Then we’ll take a trail to the most remote area in the Costa Brava the Cap de Creus lighthouse the most eastern place in the Iberian Peninsula,  after a short break  will keep north towards Cala Tavalera bay, then we’ll turn inland get to top of the highest mountain in the cap at the other side of which Perafita Winery will be waiting for us.

 


Day 7 - Monastery


Perafita Winery - Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery  and Neolitic area (19 km, Elevation gain 1074 m - Elevation loss: 1248m)


We’ll start our final day from the winery running downhill to the coastal village of Port de la Selva at the other end of Cap de Creus, following bay it’s nort  until we find a trail that will take us up to the  12 centuries old Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery, from there we will run down to Vilajuiga town.

Pablo and Cristina Owner Adventure Runners

Pablo and Cristina are the founders and managers of running&outdoors Costa Brava. They live in Girona with their four little boys. After working for some years in their formal jobs, Pablo as a IT specialist and Cristina in a travel agency, they finally decided to quit their jobs and make their passion their way of living.


A mix of experience and knowledgement from both, allowed them to create this running vacations experience in the CostaBrava in 2011, Pablo was an ex professional triathlete and Cristina always dedicated professionally to the tourist world.


He is in charge of the running holidays route design and the other guides supervision and trainning. Cristina is the contact before your arrival. She is in charge with all the bookings and will personally sort out all the matters conecerned to your stay.
